The picoFlamingo hardware is depicted in the figure below:

The different system components are described below:

  • picoDLP. Used to project the presentation on any surface. Nothing prevents the use of any other display system supported by the BeagleBoard
  • BeagleBoard. Used to run the presentation application. The following interfaces of the board will be used:
    • USB Host. An USB hub will be connected to the host port. The Hub will provide power to the BeagleBoard, connect a Bluetooth device and, additionally, provide external ports to connect an auxiliary keyboard or mouse.
    • USB OTG. The board could be configured as a massive storage device so, presentations can be easily transfered to the system, or as a presentation device.
    • Video output. To drive the picoDLP or other DVI-D display
    • SD Card. This socket will hold an SD card to store the presentation data
  • Power Supply. The last element is the power supply. Two alternatives has been envisioned:
    • Use two connections, one for the USB Hub and one for the picoDLP. This will be useful if the picoDLP is not attached to the same box than the BeagleBoard, or a different output device is used.
    • An unique power supply that will provide power to booth components.
In addition to these components, a Bluetooth remote control device will be used to drive the presentation and allow the presenter move freely around.
