IMAGE PROCESSING AND COMPUTER VISION
My main interest on image processing is related to its application to virtual reality interaction systems, as optical interfaces for HCI (Human Computer Interaction) and HMI (Human Machine Interface). You can read more on this topics here.

Real-Time Implementation

VR related optical interfaces require real-time video processing to extract image information usable to feed the VR system and allow user interact with it. Therefore, we need a way for fast implementation and execution of image processing algorithms.

To achieve this I had developed a simple Image Based Virtual Machine which will run all the image processing tasks and which can be easely embedded in any application.

This Virtual Machine (named IMGVM) provides a simple and easy framework to integrate image processing facilities within other systems.

HCI and HMI applied Image Processing

The IMGVM introduced above has been used to develop a simple HMI for our VR Simulation prototype. The system was developed as a distributed application and so, the image processing engine and the VR Simulation system can be executed in different machines.

Several improves of this system will be carried out in future... I hope so.

Preliminary results can be checked here and here.
