This is a project that I had have in mind for a very long time. Actually I wrote about it some time ago, but in Spanish (http://ogatonosaco.blogspot.nl/2013/08/mia-noir1-mi-inteligencia-artificial.html). That was almost 2 years ago. I was so young.... Well, let's make a brief introduction/refresher here before getting into more details.
MIA stands for "Mi Inteligencia Artificial" that is Spanish for "My Artificial Intelligence" (you had probably figured it out yourself:). Basically the idea is to create one of those artificial intelligence entities we are used to see in sci-fi movies. You probably know Jane (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_(Ender's_Game)) helping Ender all around the Universe, Mother (http://avp.wikia.com/wiki/MU-TH-UR_6000) taking care of the Nostromo spacecraft, Sarah (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SARAH) housekeeping Eureka's Sheriff life and, of course, the infamous HAL 9000 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HAL_9000) trying to survive on 2001: A Space Odyssey.
You'd got the picture?. I think so. Well, I started just with a name, and as you can check out in the list above, most of these AIs have a long name. So I also gave a cool long name to my forthcoming AI.

MIA NOIR/1
That stands for "Mi Inteligencia Artifical New Order Impious Ruler v1". Sure, it looks like most of these AI things go nuts at some point and they try to take over the world, destroy humankind either killing every person in the world or enslaving them. In anticipation for any future bug that can turn MIA into such a kind of evil, I added the NOIR last name which it also mean "Black" in French, enhancing the dark future approaching to our miserable human lives... sorry about that, I've just got excited with the idea :). What is cool about MIA is the amount of different fields that I will have to work on. It is a real challenger: Distributed systems, learning machines, natural language processing, multimodal interfaces, sensor networks, image processing, security, embedded systems.... Just a lot! Actually I had been looking in many of these topics for the last two years. I haven't got too far yet because, these last two years were completely crazy at work, but I manage to come up with a couple of proof of concepts and ideas to start with. I can just say... Watson get frightened!... You'll be owned Enough for an introduction. I will be introducing MIA subsystems in other blog posts... SincerelyMrs Groves
