A little bit more voice commanding with picoFlamingo, this time using CMU PocketSphinx and featuring multi-language support, that is, dynamically switching between different language at run-time. This feature makes picoFlamingo the first presentation solution for international organisations as UN or EU... just kidding :). A video demonstration after the break
picoFlamingo "The Cracking Egg" source code is available for download!. A new version of the user manual is also available as well as our current Android Remote Control work in progress. Now you can try it on your preferred device. For the time being we have seen it running OK on Beagle, OMAP ZoomII and OMAP4 Blaze!

In our first demonstration introducing our Pervasive Widgets (the HERMITs), we just used the events on our SDL application (Wendy) to detect the user activity. However that is not very convenient if we want to use proper widgets in our devices, so we need to look for a more transparent way to detect user activity.
As we are running an X-server the XScreensaver extensions are a good option for that. What we want is to be able to detect when there is some user activity, but we do not want to get events every time user press a key or touch the screen... we want them only if that didn't happen for a while
Now that the first decade of XXI century is about to finish, it is time to introduce a revolutionary concept to develop during the next one.
The Papermint Design team proudly introduces the HERMITs.
MUVIMAN is a simple PhotoMint deviation. MUVIMAN extends the idea of real-time image sharing to real-time video sharing. Based on picoFlamingo this system allows to watch different real-time video streams and zoom into any of them.
MUVIMAN is aimed to support security guards on museums or offices allowing them to check in advance nearby video sources to increase their situation awareness.
We prepared a very simple concept demonstration and put it on a video.

Finally, it is back!!. According to the included RMA Analysis Report, the cause of the problem was this:
"Initially, LABII unit would not boot to Android. Failure traced to shorting on main PC assembly, Caused by uncleaned flux from the original manufacture. The main PC board could not be repaired, so it was replaced. With the new main PC assembly installed the LABII kit passed all tests."
Yesterday we received the OMAP Zoom II MDP and the first thing we thought was... It's really shiny. Now, we are starting playing with it, but it will take a while, this month is being really busy.
After a short vacation we are back and in our mailbox we've got a nice mail telling us that picoFlamingo is the first Monthly Winner for the BeagleBoard Sponsored Projects Program.
